Top 7 free fonts

When choosing fonts for design, I often face the problem that they: a) do not support the Cyrillic alphabet; b) do not look as good in Cyrillic as in Latin.
That's why I decided to create a list of fonts that not only don't have such problems, but are also free for commercial use.

Open Sans

A nice font that looks good in almost any design. One of the advantages is its good readability, which is why I usually choose it for text design. It also has many different outlines that are very convenient to combine.

Open Sans

Kyiv Type

A Ukrainian font family with a lot of variability, it includes fonts: Sans, Sans Serif, and Titling. Although all the fonts are special, for me, I want to highlight Kyiv Sans, which combines thin and thick lines very harmoniously.

Roboto

Another versatile font that will suit any website. As a font developed by Google, it can be seen in many of its services, so it is familiar to many users. The font can be easily used for both texts and headlines.

Roboto

Merriweather

It was designed as a font for easy reading on screens. It has a somewhat compressed letterform, soft diagonal accent, hard serifs, and open shapes. There is also a version of Merriweather Sans, which is very harmoniously combined with it.

Merriweather

Arsenal

A representative of Ukrainian grotesque fonts that can be easily used for text blocks. It is also effective for business documentation. Its prominent features are:

  • Narrow proportions

  • Sufficient openness of forms

  • Noticeable contrast

Playfair Display

A popular grotesque that works best in headlines and subheadings. In the main text, delicate high-contrast strokes can be difficult to read, especially when used in smaller sizes, so it is better to combine it with other fonts: Lato, Roboto, Open Sans, Montserrat, etc.

Playfair Display

Raleway

Another sans serif font. In its original thin version, the font shows its strengths, so it can often be seen in portfolios. It also goes well with other fonts on this list, such as: Open Sans, Merriweather, Playfair Display.
